FAQ’s FOR YOU
Q Am I a good candidate for cosmetic surgery?
A If you are in good physical health generally,
have not recently gone through any major emotional upheaval, have
realistic expectations and are mentally sound, you are an excellent
candidate for cosmetic surgery.
If your diet and general fitness level needs some adjustments it is recommended that you address these important factors, and if at all possible stop smoking and decrease your alcohol intake.
The healthier and fitter you are prior to surgery, the quicker you will recover and the better the results are likely to be.
Any underlying or previous health problems must be disclosed to your surgeon to ensure that your body can cope with the procedure/s you wish to undergo.
If you are hoping to change your life, to make yourself a happier person or to get over a life crises through altering your appearance you are liable to be disappointed. While most people do feel more positive about them after surgery, and experience a boost to their self-esteem, cosmetic surgery is not a magic cure and it cannot change who you are inside. Consider seeing a therapist first before embarking on this journey, and when you are in a more realistic and healthier emotional state of mind you will be able to consider surgery again.
Q What is the ‘right age’ to have cosmetic
surgery?
A There is not really a ‘right’ age
for having plastic surgery. Individual cases are decided on their
own merits. Your surgeon will look at your health and how your body
is aging and then decided if the procedure you are considering is
appropriate for you. As a general rule, face-lifts are not often
performed on patients under the age of 30. Surgeons may recommend
alternative procedures on younger patients. However, other procedures,
for example otoplasty (ear pinning) can be performed on children
a young as 5.
