MALE PECTORAL IMPLANTS FAQs
Some men can exercise, lift weights or bench press until they are ‘blue in the face’ yet remain unable to build muscle in the chest area. If you are one of these individuals, you may be a candidate for Pectoral Implants.
Q&A TIME
What is a Male Pectoral (Peck) Implant?
A Male Peck Implant is a cosmetic surgery procedure that increases the chest size and shape by the insertion of a solid silicone implant under the real muscle on each side.
What are Pectoral implants made from?
Pectoral Implants are usually made from medical grade silicone. This is a pliable, yet firm, substance made from sand and it is generally well tolerated by the body. It can be formed into various shapes, and custom made to fit an individual for implantation. It is totally non-toxic.
Are there risks involved?
As with any surgery there are some risks. The main ones associated with Peck Implants are
• Bleeding
• Sores
• Bruising
• Swelling
What about pain?
In the first few days following surgery you can anticipate mild to moderate pain / discomfort. Bruising and pain should be over within a week to 10 days.
How is a Pectoral Implants procedure performed?
The procedure is usually performed light sedation with local or general anesthetic. An incision is made under the pectoral mound or alternately in the underarm area. A pocket is then formed under the muscle, separating it from the chest wall. Then the implant is placed between these two muscles. The implant is positioned and then the pocket and the incision area are sutured.
When can I return to work?
You may plan to return to work after a minimum of 4 days.
Do Pectoral Implants feel / look fake?
The results from augmentation with Pectoral Implants resemble the appearance of a toned muscle. They feel a little firm to the touch, but no more than when a person flexes his/her muscle. The fact that the natural muscle covers the implant means a more natural and less detectable result.
